Episode 003: How to Achieve Marital Peace in Your Finances
On today’s show, we are going to talk about Money & Marriage and give you a few tips to achieving marital peace in your finances. So, if you are tired of fighting over money, want to be able to work together as a couple to set and reach financial goals, this show is for you.
Show Notes:
* Communicating effectively about money begins with creating a comfortable, distraction-free place to talk without out playing the blame game or pointing fingers. These financial chats can be weekly, monthly, quarterly or even annually. There you should discuss your current financial status and develop a plan to improve your financial status.
* Don’t be a financial sabotager. A financial sabotager is a person who sets goals to achieve financial success, but allows their actions to do the contrary. Implement delayed gratification and know that is not a “no” but a “not yet.”
* Handling money is not related to gender or roles, but best suits the person who is the most competent in getting it done. Whomever is best at handling money, whether it is the husband or wife, should be the one to manage the household finances.
* If you have tried everything to achieve financial peace, but nothing is working, don’t be ashamed (or even prideful) to get extra help. Paying for a financial coach to get you on the right track is cheaper than divorce court.
